Merry Christmas

A very merry Christmas to all of you out there. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, I still wish you a happy on of them. It is a wonderful time to spend time with your families and I hope that you all got something nice for and mathy for Christmas.

Personally I use some of the time between Christmas and New year to reflect over the year gone by. What have I learned, what have been good, what have been bad. Not just around mathematical subject, but all aspects of life. And not least, what do I want to change next year.

I started the blog in 2010, but didn’t move  it to the current domain until March 4 2011, so 2012 have been the first whole year of the blog. And what a year. This year Bjarki joined me on the site and wrote several posts, especially about UVA Online Jugde, and also what I consider a rather interesting post about the Disjoint-set datastructure. Right now he is busy studying at university, but I am sure that he will come around again at some point.

This year was the first year where Mathblog.dk reached 500 visitors in one day, a goal I am really proud of. In fact we have reached 541 visitors in one day as the record. To elaborate a bit more on this kind of statistics, I can tell you that we have had almost 93.000 visitors this year. My goal for next year will be 100.000 visitors for the year. Something I would never have hoped for a couple of years back, where 10 visitors in a day was excellent. A goal that I can only reach if I keep posting good posts, that are helpful to people. So I will keep trying. So if you like to write a guest post about something on something related to math, don’t hesitate to contact me. I do love to get inspiration and input from you out there. And in that regard, I would also like to thank you for all the great comments.

So with these words we would like to wish you a very merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you too!

And speaking of something nice for Christmas: I just gave myself a pretty cool present. I finished my 500th UVa problem today! I’ve been solving UVa problems like crazy since I started my holiday vacation (along with one solved Project Euler problem 🙂 )
